GETTING TO KNOW
ALOK
Alok is an individual with very strong musical roots. Raised in a family where his parents (Swarup and Ekanta) and his twin brother (Bhaskar) are artists in the electronic scene, his universe has revolved around music since he was 10 years old. The early start in the project “Lógica”, together with his brother, made him a proactive producer and currently, in a solo career, totals more than a decade of work.
Fast-forward to 15 years later, Alok relentlessly dedicates his time to music and has become one of the most prominent artists on the Brazilian scene, with both honors and awards. He was the first Brazilian to reach more than 1 billion plays on Spotify, the main music platform in the world; he was elected the 11th best DJ in the world by the British magazine “DJ Mag” in 2019; he is the only Brazilian to join Billboard’s unprecedented list of the 100 best DJs in the world, the Billboard Dance 100; he was considered the “best DJ in Brazil” twice in a row by the Brazilian publication House Mag, in addition to being currently considered in a survey conducted by IBOPE, the 6th leading Brazilian male artist with the most credibility in the country and 2nd most credible in the male musician category. He also received a double platinum record in Italy, and a gold record in France for his hit “Hear me Now” in partnership with Bruno and Zeeba, reaching TOP 1 on Spotify in several countries and being the first Brazilian to reach TOP 20 on TOP Global.
The expansion and recognition of the artist spread through China, making him become one of the DJs with the most exposure currently in the territory. With an ever more remarkable growth, Alok continued to reinforce his influence on music, performing, on average, 4 annual tours per continent. Consequently, he managed to achieve great exposure in the USA and Europe, performing in the main festivals and electronic clubs, such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Burning Man, Ushuaia Ibiza and Creamfields. That same year, he was featured at Forbes as one of the most influential young artists in Brazil.
Furthermore, Alok has won an independent electric trio at the Salvador Carnival, in charge of more than 100 thousand people on the Barra Ondina circuit. Due to such a success, his block debuted in 2020 on the streets of the São Paulo Carnival. He has released the songs “United” with Armin Van Buuren and Vini Vici, “Favela”, in partnership with Norwegian singer Ina Wroldsen, “Innocent”, with Yves V, “Do it Again” with Steve Aoki, “Party Never Ends” with Quintino and “On & On” with Dynoro. In addition, he received a personal invitation from Mick Jagger to release his version of “Gotta Get a Grip”, becoming one of Jagger's most popular songs.
When it comes to the stage, the artist started to conquer and gather more and more different types of audiences. Such deed was achieved when he performed on Rock in Rio’s Palco Mundo (one of the biggest music festivals in the world), breaking through another barrier and becoming the first artist in the electronic scene to perform on the event’s main stage. As for the social context, Alok is known for taking part in philanthropic causes around the world.
